The History of Associated Risk Managers (ARM)
ARM was founded in Indiana in 1970 by a group of Independent Insurance Agencies seeking to bring national risk management capabilities to the local level. As ARM began to expand it recognized it needed state/regional management and encouraged the local organizations to work together. The states of Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi joined together in 1989 to from ARM of ArkLaMiss, Inc. In the early 1990's they expanded into Alabama and changed the name to ARM South, Inc. We formed a marketing network with the other ARM Groups enabling independent agents to work together to solve their clients needs. The evolution led to the organization's rapid growth and expansion across the United States and abroad. Today, ARM is part of an international network, has more than 200 independent agencies in the USA who collectively generate over $5 billion in annual insurance premiums.
